Chocolate Orange Cupcakes
Today I am sharing my Chocolate Orange Cupcake recipe. Rich fluffy chocolate cake with homemade orange syrup topped with smooth chocolate orange buttercream. It’s is one of my go to recipes particularly if I’m gifting the cakes to some one as it goes down a treat.
The orange syrup used in this recipe is one of my husbands recipes which can be found here.
INGREDIENTS
Cake:
4 Eggs
180g Self Raising Flour
80g Cocoa Powder
260g Margarine
300g Sugar
2 Tablespoons Orange Syrup
Icing:
160g Margarine
260g Icing Sugar
60g Cocoa Powder
2 Tablespoons Orange Syrup
METHOD
Preheat your oven to 180°C.
Weigh out the margarine, self raising flour, cocoa powder and sugar for the cake.
Put into a large mixing bowl with the four eggs.
Mix to combine all the ingredients.
Place your cupcake liners in your baking tin then pour approximately a tablespoon of cake batter into each cupcake liner.
Put the cupcakes in the oven for approximately 15 to 20 minutes. They should spring back when done.
Take the cupcakes out if the oven and leave them to cool.
While the cake is cooling I like to make the buttercream frosting. To make the frosting weigh out the butter, icing sugar and cocoa powder into a large bowl.
Add in the orange syrup and beat the ingredients together until they form a nice fluffy mixture.
Once the cupcakes has cooled top with the buttercream and enjoy!
